SUMMARY
In July 1999, 2 head of beef cattle(30 months old) suffering from bloody
feces died. Just before death, the feces of one head demonstrated an Eimeria zuernii OPG of 106 and an
Eimeria bovis OPG of 105. The feces of the other head demonstrated an E. zuernii OPG between 104 on the
day before death and 106 just after death. Necropsy of one head of cattle revealed severe hemorrhage
in the ileum; Clostridium perfringens (108 CFU/g) was isolated from the contents of the duodenum. The
animals were diagnosed to be suffering from complications of necrotizing enteritis and coccidiosis.
