1997〜1998年の1年間に来院した犬103頭について毛包虫の感染状況を調査したところ，脱毛，紅斑，脂漏，膿皮症を認める2歳9カ月，雄のヨークシャー・テリアの皮膚にDemodex canisと未同定種毛包虫が同時に検出された．未同定種は体長98〜168μm（平均139μ m），脚体部55〜100μm（平均83μm），後胴体部40〜68μm（平均56μm）で，後胴体部はD. canisと比較して著しく短く，末端は鈍形であった．イベルメクチン0.05ml皮下注射，過酸化ベンゾイル2.5％，硫黄粉末2％溶液とアミトラズ700倍溶液によるシャンプーを2週間間隔で実施し，さらにセファロスポリン250mgカプセル4分の1量 を12時間間隔で投与したが，治療開始3カ月後でも毛包虫は検出され，皮膚病変の改善は認められなかった．そのため全身を剪毛し，上記シャンプーを週1回行い，ミルベマイシンオキシム2.5mg錠を1日1錠経口投与し，さらに局所にフィプロニールの塗布を行ったところ，2カ月後には虫体は陰性となり臨床症状も消失した．―キーワード：アミトラズ，犬毛包虫症，Demodex canis，未同定毛包虫．

A Case of Canine Demodecosis Complicated by Demodex canis and a Short-bodied (Unidentified) Demodex Mite

SUMMARY

 Histopathological evaluations of testicular tumors in 7 cats showed 3 of them to be seminomas, 3 to be interstitial cell tumors, and 1 to be teratoma. Gross pathological and histological findings were similar to those obtained from dogs. Two of the 7 tumors (one case of interstitial cell tumor and one of teratoma) develeped in cryptorchism. Surgery was performed on the animals, 3 of which died within 2 years from other causes. All traces of 2 were lost, and 2 are still living. Since these cases are too few to permit definite conclusions, further investigation is required to clarify the biological behavior of these tumors.
