発作性第3度房室ブロックに対しペースメーカーの植え込みを実施した猫の1例

　8歳5カ月の雄の雑種猫が，失神を主訴に来院した．心電図検査所見より，発作性第3度房室ブロックと診断された．その後，5カ月間で失神の頻度が増加したため，永久的ペースメーカーの植え込みを実施した．現在，植え込み後1年経過するが，発作もなく良好に経過している．われわれの知る限り，この報告は猫にペースメーカー植え込み後長期観察したわが国最初の報告である．

Pacemaker Implantation in a Cat with Paroxysmal Third-degree Atrioventricular Block

SUMMARY

　A male mongrel cat (age 8 years and 5 months) was referred to our clinic because of syncopal episodes. Electrocardiography revealed paroxysmal third-degree atrioventricular block. Because syncopal episodes became increasingly frequent over a period of 5 months, permanent pacemaker implantion was performed. One year after the operation, no further syncopes had occurred. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report in Japan of long-term observation of pacemaker implantation in a cat.
