　岩手県内の飼いバト56羽および野バト5羽の糞便61検体，ならびにペットショップの小鳥，野鳥などの糞便35検体についてCryptococcus neoformansの分離を試みた．飼いバトの17検体を接種されたsunflower seed寒天培地に褐色コロニーが形成され，37発育，尿素分解，硝酸カリ利用，フェノールオキシダーゼ，CGB寒天培養などにより，C. neoformans var. neoformansと同定された．

Isolation of Cryptococcus neoformans from Pigeon Excreta

SUMMARY

　Excreta from 61 pigeons and 35 small birds in pet shops or wild life in Iwate Prefecture, were examined for Cryptococcus neoformans. On sunflower seed agar (Pal's medium) inoculated with 17 specimens of pigeon ex-creta brown colonies were produced, and the isolates were identified as C. neoformans var. neoformansK, based on 37 growth, urease, KNO3 utilization and phenoloxidase activity.
